Editor’s Note: Most of us have either read or heard about the eviction of Amhara children and women from Beneshangul and Gurfa warda regions of Ethiopia. We have been informed extensively day in and day out about this genocidal and criminal act of TPLF against the Ahmara people for quite some time. Unfortunately, the response so far is depressing. What everyone is doing, which is the usual response, is lip singing. Empathy alone won’t save the Amhara people. We have got to do something and do whatever we can to alleviate their suffering short of liberating them from their oppressors-TPLF.
We must find ways to send financial and moral support to these victims where such genocidal crimes are being committed as we speak. We should plan and execute a support initiative for these people who are evicted. We should consult with them on their preference of how to rebuild their lives in the future. This is the first order of business that the Ethiopian Democratic Opposition can do immediately.
The second order of business is to expose this blatant and inhuman act of TPLF against Amharas to the wide world. We should contact our senators and congressmen in our neighborhoods. We should go out on a protest in our respective cities. We can’t let these innocent Amharas die in silence. We should aggressively pursue it at the UN and ICC. We should confront the Obama administration to stop funding genocidal dictators and agents of ethnic cleansing such as the TPLF government. This is not a typo or a conceptual error. Yes, the government in Ethiopia today is NOT an Ethiopian government. It is a TPLF government colonizing Ethiopia. I recommend to all of you to call it as such-the TPLF government.
We should launch a task force wherever we live and conduct the two main tasks as mentioned above-1) Help financially as well as morally 2) Launch a diplomatic and political campaign. No real Ethiopian should ignore such level of atrocity being committed against our people by the TPLF government that is actually a home-grown colonizer at this time.
